The Otto Treider Building · Est. 1856
Designed by architect Thøger Binneballe and built in 1856, our home is the only preserved example of the earliest masonry development in this part of Oslo. It is a listed heritage building - facades, roof, main construction and original stairwell are all protected.
In 1899, the pioneering educator Otto Treider purchased the building and established Norway's first commercial school - an institution that shaped business education for over a century.
After a full heritage rehabilitation in 2019 and a complete interior renovation in 2023, the building was reborn, and later reimagined as House21 in late 2025. The second and third floor house our dining and event spaces, including MANKA. The upper floors hold workspaces, meeting rooms and silent areas.
Located at Tullinløkka, steps from Slottsparken and the National Museum - in the very heart of Oslo sentrum.

The Founder
Johann Olav Koss
Johann Olav Koss is one of Norway's most celebrated athletes - a four-time Olympic gold medalist in speed skating at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics, where he set three world records and captured the heart of a nation.
Beyond sport, Koss is the founder of Right to Play, a global humanitarian organisation that uses the power of play to educate and empower children in the world's most challenging communities. His work has touched the lives of millions.
With House21, Koss brings the same belief - that great things happen when ambitious people come together with purpose. House21 is his invitation to Oslo: a house where meaningful connection, good food and bold ideas meet under one roof.
